Overview

At Mustard Seed Counselling and Care we believe that within every living person is the potential to grow and to be all you were meant to be with support and guidance.

The mustard seed is known to be one of the smallest seeds. It grows into one of the largest trees and in many parts of the world it is known for its shelter. From something that seems so insignificant, comes this amazing life-giving and strong plant.

Mustard Seed Counselling is founded on the belief that every human being is made in the image of God and is unique and precious, with spiritual, physical, emotional and social aspects of their being that require a holistic response in counselling.

Mustard Seed is committed to promoting healing and reconciliation through counselling, spiritual nurture, life skills, education and support to clients regardless or race, colour, gender, religion or social status.

The benefits of counselling are as varied as the clients who come. Each person has a unique story and a unique need to be met. Some of the benefits can include:

  • improved self esteem
  • confidence to gain employment
  • healing of grief issues
  • improvement in relationships
  • forgiveness
  • help with depression
  • coping strategies for a variety of issues, including chronic illness
  • adolescence

Mustard Seed Counselling and Care in 2007/2008

Our opening was on Sunday 13th July. We had a wonderful day and the following day the Border Morning Mail had a great article which detailed the essentials of our service. Since then we have had a lot of enquiries from service providers, Oncology and doctors clinics very interested. These are encouraging signs. It is such a privilege to see how well our Committee of Management are taking their responsibility so seriously and I particularly want to say "thank you" for their support and guidance. We believe that God is building this ministry steadily and surely, and we are anticipating great things. Already so many people have moved through debilitating life issues to greater freedom in Christ. We really see how this ministry continues to be aligned with our church's vision for people to "thrive".
