Playgroup
Connect with usAbout
Playgroup is a fun and supportive environment for kids and their parents. It encourages children to learn through play with activities incorporating pasting, painting, stamping, drawing, puzzles, water, sand, climbing, building, singing, listening and much more! It is also a place for parents to build friendships and gain support in their very important role as mum, dad or care-giver.
Each session follows a general routine including indoor play, story time, snack time, outdoor play and concluding with song time. Sandwiches are supplied for the children along with tea and coffee for the adults. Parents are welcome to bring fruit for their children to supplement the sandwiches if they choose. Parents contribute to the functioning of the session by being on a roster for providing morning tea, a table activity, cleaning up and reading the story.
Playgroup is run by WDBC for all members of the community and therefore we celebrate Christmas and Easter, say grace before eating, have a “thought for the day” to encourage the adults and sometimes include Christian themes or bible stories in our program. However no church affiliation is required to attend playgroup.
We have a limited number of places available in each group therefore we operate a waiting list once the groups are full.
